Oh, how you will laugh. Or else. It is the law. So anyway, it turns out that for years after having acquired this artefact I had assumed it was related to Cusson's Imperial Leather soap, while it seems a more plausible origin is Flan Imperial — a popular brand in France.
Still, at least you get to see what it looks like, right?
