While we're talking about Super Action Transfers…
When Peter Archer died, he left me a treasure trove of fascinating puzzles — one of which is this pair of paste-up boards featuring GK6 "The Enchanted Land" & GK28 "The Bewitched Forest" (featured below). Who can say why he had cut up these two transfer sheets & rearranged them like this? I asked his son, Ben, & he suggested it could have been:
- A test to see if his figure-narrative ideas for either could be transposed onto the panoramas of the other
- A proposal for extending the existing content onto a new panorama
- An attempt to balance playful and combative themes more evenly across both panoramas
I'm inclined towards option 2, since most of the accompanying material was from his Trans-Action period — so perhaps it was a suggested theme for new packets that never got published.
We'll never know, of course, but at any rate I thought you'd like to see this!
